Description
This is a Pioneer Women in 1938 in the Adirondack park, Saranac Lake,NY She and her family lived in Saranac Lake from the 1800's to current. Saranac Lake is known for its cure cottages, pristine lakes, mountains, and wildlife. This is the first of a series I will complete depicting founding members of the town, the way it was. All will be done using black, white and brown only similar to the photos taken in that era. I love her style with the plad wool coat but the trendy scarf! The loon on the boat was painted by an unknown artist.

I love her face and the Mona Lisa smie. The background is great and the reflection of light on the trees is authentic.

Thanks Robert! She was a pleasure to paint! Her daughter felt it really captured her.
